How others die

"The American people cannot visualize the spectacle of a hundred thousand...German children starving by slow degrees as a result of the British blockade, but they can visualize the pitiful face of a little child drowning amidst the wreckage caused by a German torpedo."

So said the former German Colonial Secretary Bernhard Dernburg after the torpedoing of the Lusitania, a British ship mysteriously sailing in contested waters and carrying 128 Americans.

Nothing has changed...Americans today cannot visualize 1.7 million Iraqi children slowly dying through lack of medication...or Afghan families being suddenly bombed to pieces.

They care only about American lives. Until that changes, there will be more revenge.

The new constitution of Bangladesh

The revised, complete and unexpurgated edition of the constitution is forthcoming. I see that we draw our inspiration from Islam as well as the Franco-German religion called nationalism (which the Franco-Germans have been trying to inter for the last sixty years).

At any rate. I shall no doubt sleep better knowing that the next morning I might find that my assets have been nationalised. There will be an equally soporiferous effect on foreign investors.

Now that the document has been revised, we are surely about to take off like a rocket. After all, the only obstacle between Bangladesh and development has been a few sheets of paper.

what the fraulein said

A German diplomatic team was here in Bangladesh the other day. Their spokeswoman, Fraulein Nina Zuring, said: "We are friends of Bangladesh. Actually, we are masters – we give aid to Bangladesh, and we have ruled the country for the last thirty years. Of course, not we alone, but the other European nations and especially America."

She was praised for her frankness, and received a standing ovation. This was at the German Cultural Centre on the 31st of March.

When asked why the Germans (along with the other masters) had decided to impose democracy on Bangladesh after 1989, she said: "Dummkopf! Don't you know the Berlin Wall had come down and I could visit my communist cousins again? Dummkopf!"

Ayaan Hirsi Ali

Who hasn’t heard of Ayaan Hirsi Ali?
She it was who wrote the script for Theo van Gogh’s film “Submission”: the film depicts a beaten, naked woman whose body is covered with verses from the Koran. In case you didn’t get the message: that’s what Islam does to you, especially if you are a woman.

Theo van Gogh was murdered by a Dutch-born Muslim of Moroccan origin, and he threatened to do the same to Ms. Ali. The lady had since then been kept under police protection. However, she was caught having fibbed about her asylum claim, and the Dutch withdrew the welcome mat. Since then she has headed for more accommodating climes, namely, the United States of America (where else?).

In her book “The Caged Virgin”, she argues that it is clear what the west must do: force Islam to go through the civilising effects of the Renaissance and the Enlightenment. She fiercely opposes multiculturalism: the west should come out of the closet and proclaim its superiority over the benighted Muslim world.

As history books helpfully point out, the superiority of the Dutch over the barbaric hordes is beyond reasonable doubt: after all, they it was who collaborated to hand over almost all the resident Jews to the Germans to be shipped to concentration camps.

Now, that’s western civilisation for you: superior!
